  • Yes I do. I work with adult individuals to help them clarify their values, interests, and goals and bring those to life.

  • A referral is not necessary.

  • Most people feel nervous when they start counselling, or think about starting counselling. Human nature is to be cautious when approaching new situations and people, particularly if the new relationship involves sharing of personal information.

The exact unfolding of your counselling process will be in some ways unique as I work from a client-focused approach. For example, when we meet I will invite you to engage in conversation at a pace that feels right for you as we discuss your individual circumstances, needs and goals.

Because the process involves sharing thoughts of personal difficulties, challenges and successes it is typical to experience a range of uncomfortable feelings and distress as well as feelings of joy and accomplishment.

Counselling has been shown to be beneficial for many people. It can lead to better interpersonal relationships, improved work and academic performance, resolution of specific problems, and reductions in feelings of distress. Many people report feeling some relief from their distress or other positive outcomes by the end of the first or first few sessions.

  • This may be one of the most important questions you ask. In my experience, within the first 15 minutes of a session or first full session most people gain a sense of whether they want to continue with me as their counsellor. If I am the right therapist for you, my overall approach will feel right for you. You will feel comfortable talking and meeting with me. You will feel that I understand you. You will be able to imagine working on your concerns and goals with me. You will feel okay sharing about yourself—your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences.

You will find me knowledgeable about your problems. You will not feel judged. You will feel welcomed and accepted for who you are. There may be other important aspects that you add to this list.

  • The number of sessions depends on the problems that brought you to counselling and your counselling goals. Many people attend 3 to 12 sessions, while others require more due to the complexity of their needs. We will discuss your needs at your first full session, and re-assess as

I offer a convenient alternative to face-to-face counselling sessions. For the past 12 years, I have offered online and phone counselling and therapy to my clients who travel or live in other communities or are less mobile for other reasons. This allows those individuals to continue therapy or coaching with me without interruption. Progress can continue without delay.

Since the COVID pandemic, online and phone counselling and therapy has grown. Reports from satisfied clients and research show that it can be as effective as in-person counselling.

  • Many extended health plans cover RCC services. Please check with your plan directly. I do not not invoice to 3rd parties. Services are paid by clients at the session and a receipt is provided.
